The elderly are
among the most vulnerable citizens in our society.
When confined to care facilities, they are
frequently at the mercy of their caregivers.
When, as a result of overstaffing or inadequate
training, the caregivers provide insufficient
attention, the results can be tragic.
Many people discount the feelings and rights
of the elderly because they associate aging
with physiological and psychological disability,
even though this attitude is typically unwarranted
and unfair. It is both an honor and a challenge
to represent the elderly in litigation that
requires us to overcome a tendency on the part
of others, including insurance adjusters and
even physicians, to discount an elderly person's
injuries and the diminished quality of life
that results from them.
